There’s another condition called “Mönckeberg’s sclerosis,” which involves calcium deposits in the arteries. Unlike atherosclerosis, this condition causes the arteries to harden due to the calcium depositing in the middle layer (Tunica media) of the artery, but it doesn’t involve inflammation and doesn’t block the arteries.
