Indeed, the SARS-CoV-2 infection seems to cause a lot of complications in the immune system, particularly the production of autoantibodies which appears to be associated with a substantial number of cases of severe or long covid.

Surprisingly, autoantibodies against IFN exists within healthy individuals who weren’t infected with the coronavirus as well. And they seem to remain harmless until the exposure to SARS-CoV-2, which escalates the severity of COVID-19.
